It is difficult to believe it has been more than a month since the QPDA readings. My play, The Good Dad, was lucky enough to be among the final three plays in a prestigious award called the QPDA, which awards a pretty chunk of money and a mainstage production in 2025.
Three months of development (which I’ve been writing about here) ejaculated into a public reading in front of a panel of judges. As I write this to you, we still don’t know who won.
The reading was enjoyable, but the entire process has got me wondering. It was a chaotic few weeks which I finally feel (a little bit more) able to talk about with honesty. Like, the Artistic Director of the company, who was the head judge on the process, resigned in the middle of the entire thing. And it’s three men who are finalists.
