Hi there,
I wanted to just pop into your feed mid-week to give you a quick update on the blog.
When I started this thing back in May, it was a cautious experiment. A few weeks after it began, I wrote a post called ‘The Queensland Problem’ that exploded. Since that point, the audience and support for the blog have slowly grown. I really appreciate communicating with readers and I’m very grateful for the support.
I’ve also grown to really love the Substack platform, and I enjoy the weekly pressure to generate content. The blog feels cosy - a space where I can write on just about any topic, in any form, and surf around and have fun. I’ve really enjoyed having that space.
Some of you have chosen to be paid subscribers, and I’m truly grateful. I’ve been thinking a lot about a sustainable way I can give paid subscribers meaningful and useful content.
A few weeks ago I published the first bonus post for paid subscribers, the start of a monthly book club. This will be a monthly tradition. In a few days, I’ll also send out a new monthly bonus post that talks through TV and movie recommendations. That’s a total of two bonus posts a month for paid subscribers.
But there’s more. Once every three months, I’ll be plucking a play from the archives and publishing the entire thing on Substack. Some of these will be old youth and education works, others will be full mainstage commissions that never saw the light of day. Others are more niche work from days past. Regardless, these plays will be available nowhere else other than the Substack, and exclusive to paid subscribers. The first of these will be in a fortnight’s time. I’m excited about sharing this work with a new audience.
Thanks so much for reading, and if you want to join as a paid subscriber you can at any time (and you can cancel anytime). There are options below to also donate or gift a subscription.
Thanks again. Hope your world is spectacular.
Love and smooches,
Dave
