Devising new theatre work in partnership with a group can be intimidating, but it can be the bread and butter of any drama workshop facilitator. The most common request I have from the school teachers or community groups is to lead participants in a devising process. Sometimes in a single, four-hour session. Sometimes over months.
Over time, I’ve developed a framework for devising work. It’s hardly infallible, but it’s enough to get me by, and is pleasingly flexible to whatever group or time requirements you have.
